💼 About the Opportunity

As Legal Counsel, you’ll play a key role in providing strategic, business-focused legal support across a dynamic and fast-paced organization. You’ll work closely with commercial and sales teams while partnering with colleagues across a global legal function.

This role offers strong visibility, cross-functional collaboration, and the potential to broaden scope into additional areas of the business over time.


🔑 Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial and licensing agreements across North and South America
  • Partner with sales and business teams to support global licensing workflows
  • Provide legal guidance on commercial contracts, intellectual property, data privacy, and compliance matters
  • Act as a trusted legal advisor, delivering pragmatic and commercially sound advice
  • Support litigation matters, including disputes, investigations, subpoenas, and discovery processes
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external counsel on legal strategy and case management
  • Monitor legal matters, budgets, and deadlines, and report updates to senior leadership
  • Contribute to legal team strategy, training, and knowledge-sharing initiatives

✅ Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Active membership in the New York State Bar
  • 4+ years of experience in corporate/commercial law (law firm or in-house)
  • Strong commercial judgment and ability to influence decision-making
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills and collaborative mindset

💡 Nice to Have

  • Experience with publishing, media, or IP law
  • Exposure to state and federal contracting
  • Spanish or Portuguese language skills
