Legal Counsel / Senior Legal Counsel (Commercial & Data)
Location: Fully Remote (East Coast hours)
A high-growth global data and SaaS business operating within the life sciences sector is seeking a Legal Counsel or Senior Legal Counsel to join its commercial legal team. This is a key hire within a fast-paced, commercially driven environment supporting a product suite built around real-world data and analytics.
The role sits within a global legal function and partners closely with sales and product teams, advising on complex commercial agreements and the use of regulated data. This position offers strong exposure to a scaling business, significant responsibility early on, and the opportunity to operate in a highly collaborative, international team.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of outbound commercial agreements, including SaaS and data licensing contracts
- Advise sales and product teams on commercial deal structure and risk in a fast-moving environment
- Provide guidance on data usage, including privacy considerations and compliance frameworks
- Support matters involving real-world data, including advising on regulatory requirements such as HIPAA
- Partner cross-functionally to deliver practical, business-oriented legal advice
- Contribute to the development of scalable legal processes and contract management systems
Candidate Profile
- J.D. and admission to at least one U.S. state bar
- 3 to 5 years of legal experience, with prior in-house experience strongly preferred
- Strong background in commercial contracting within SaaS, technology, or data-driven businesses
- Experience with data privacy and regulated datasets required
- Exposure to data licensing strongly preferred
- Prior experience in life sciences or biotech is advantageous
- Independent, pragmatic, and able to operate effectively in a high-growth, fast-paced environment
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to partner effectively with commercial stakeholders
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a willingness to adapt and take ownership in a scaling organization
Compensation
- The base salary range for the position is $125k-$150K.
