Position: Vice President, Legal & Compliance
Reports to: Senior Executive, Human Capital & Corporate Operations
Location: Major U.S. financial center (with international exposure)
About the Opportunity
A highly successful international real estate investment management firm is seeking a Vice President, Legal & Compliance to serve as its senior in-house legal and compliance professional. This individual will oversee legal and regulatory matters across the U.S. and Europe, manage external counsel, support investor documentation, and partner closely with executive leadership on risk management and corporate governance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the firm’s legal and compliance functions, including regulatory oversight and policy management.
- Manage relationships with outside counsel across corporate, employment, fund, and regulatory matters.
- Draft and negotiate employment, compensation, and commercial agreements.
- Oversee investor onboarding documentation, fund-related legal processes, and closing activities.
- Advise senior leadership on legal, regulatory, and operational risk issues.
Candidate Profile
- J.D. and active bar membership.
- Approximately 8-10 years of legal experience, ideally combining law firm and in-house environments.
- Experience within investment management, private equity, real estate, or alternative asset management preferred.
- Strong understanding of regulatory compliance, employment law, and investor-facing documentation.
- Comfortable operating independently as the lead internal legal advisor.
