Legal Counsel – FMCG
A major UK‑listed FMCG group is seeking a commercially minded Legal Counsel to join its high‑performing, central legal team. This is an excellent opportunity to develop as a broad in‑house lawyer within a fast‑moving consumer goods environment, partnering directly with commercial, procurement, marketing, and international teams.
The legal department is well‑regarded, collaborative, and highly integrated with the business. You’ll gain exposure across domestic and international markets, with strong senior support and genuine opportunities for development.
The Role
As Legal Counsel, you will work closely with senior lawyers and key business stakeholders, providing front‑line legal support across:
Commercial & Procurement
- Drafting, negotiating and advising on a wide range of commercial agreements
- Procurement contract support (initial focus due to business needs)
- Supporting colleagues across sales, distribution, and supply chain
Marketing & Advertising
- Reviewing product packaging and promotional materials
- Ensuring compliance with advertising codes and regulatory requirements
Compliance
- Supporting programmes related to Competition, Anti‑Bribery, Sanctions and Data Protection
- Helping to develop training materials and identify compliance issues
Intellectual Property
- Managing NDAs, trade mark reviews and clearances
- Liaising with external counsel where needed
About You
We’re looking for someone who is:
- A qualified solicitor in England & Wales (or equivalent)
- Ideally NQ-4 PQE, with in‑house experience highly valued
- Comfortable working in a fast‑paced commercial environment
- Proactive, hands‑on, and able to manage varied stakeholder relationships
- Detail‑oriented with strong drafting and communication skills
- A collaborative team member who contributes positively to culture
Procurement experience is advantageous but not essential.
