Interim Legal Counsel – FMCG/Retail

A leading consumer brands business is seeking a commercially minded Legal Counsel to join its UK Legal team on a 12-month fixed-term contract commencing in September. This is a broad, business-facing role offering exposure to commercial contracts, marketing, advertising, consumer law, intellectual property, data protection and strategic business projects.

Role overview

· Join a well-established legal team within a fast-paced, consumer-facing business.

· Provide pragmatic legal advice across a broad range of commercial matters.

· Partner directly with stakeholders across multiple business functions.

· Support business growth, strategic projects, compliance initiatives and legal training.

· Work in a collaborative and supportive legal team environment with high-profile stakeholder exposure.

Key responsibilities

· Draft, review and negotiate a wide variety of commercial agreements, including technology, procurement, marketing and supply chain contracts.

· Provide legal support on advertising, marketing and promotional campaigns.

· Advise on intellectual property, brand protection and general commercial matters.

· Support the business on data protection and privacy issues.

· Build strong relationships with stakeholders across the organisation.

· Assist with legal training, compliance initiatives and business projects.

Candidate profile

· Qualified solicitor with approximately 3-6 years’ PQE.

· Strong commercial contracts experience gained in private practice and/or in-house.

· Commercially focused, solutions-driven and confident advising senior stakeholders.

· Comfortable working in a fast-paced, business-facing environment.

· Previous experience in retail, FMCG, consumer products, technology or procurement-related matters would be advantageous.
