The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced risk and compliance professional to step into a senior leadership role within an international law firm environment.
As Associate Director of Business Acceptance, you will play a key role in overseeing the firm’s business acceptance framework across multiple jurisdictions. This is a strategic and hands-on position, combining leadership, regulatory oversight, and commercial decision-making.
You will work closely with senior stakeholders across risk, compliance, and legal teams globally, acting as a trusted advisor on complex AML, conflicts, and regulatory matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all aspects of new business intake, including AML, conflicts, and engagement terms
- Ensure compliance with AML regulations across the UK and international offices
- Take ownership of firm-wide risk assessments, audits, and regulatory interactions, including SRA
- Act as Deputy MLRO, managing suspicious activity reporting processes
- Serve as Anti-Bribery & Corruption Officer and Sanctions Officer
- Oversee conflicts processes, ensuring alignment with UK and international regulatory requirements
- Lead and develop a team
- Partner with global stakeholders to resolve cross-border conflicts and compliance matters
- Drive improvements in processes, systems, and technology within the intake function
Key Skills and Experience
- Senior-level experience in risk and compliance within an international law firm
- Strong knowledge of AML regulations, SRA requirements, and risk governance
- Proven expertise in conflicts management, including exposure to both UK and US frameworks
- Experience managing complex stakeholder relationships across jurisdictions
- Ability to balance commercial priorities with regulatory obligations
- Demonstrated leadership of large teams and operational functions
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Qualifications
- Degree educated
- Qualified solicitor, barrister, or experienced risk professional
