About the Opportunity

We are partnering with a leading international online travel and technology business to recruit a Senior Legal Counsel to join its EMEA Legal team based in Berlin.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced commercial lawyer to work at the heart of a fast-growing, global organisation, providing strategic legal support across a broad range of commercial, regulatory, compliance, and operational matters. The role offers significant exposure to cross-border legal issues, emerging digital regulation, and complex stakeholder engagement across multiple European markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide commercially focused legal advice to senior stakeholders on strategic initiatives, new products, and business projects.
  • Advise on complex multi-jurisdictional legal and regulatory matters across the EMEA region.
  • Lead and support compliance activities relating to data protection, consumer protection, digital and technology regulation, marketing, promotions, and travel sector regulations.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments, assess business impact, and drive implementation of compliance initiatives.
  • Draft, negotiate, review, and advise on a wide range of commercial agreements, including supplier, partnership, technology, and services contracts.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders across commercial, marketing, finance, HR, product, and operational teams.
  • Deliver practical legal guidance and training to promote legal awareness across the business.
  • Manage and resolve commercial and consumer disputes in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
  • Support regulatory engagement and interactions with authorities across Europe.
  • Instruct and manage external legal counsel across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Drive continuous improvement of legal processes, templates, policies, and governance frameworks.
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues across legal and business teams in an international and multicultural environment.

About You

  • Qualified lawyer with a minimum of 8 years’ post-qualification experience.
  • Significant in-house legal experience gained within a commercial organisation.
  • At least 4 years’ legal practice experience in Germany.
  • Experience within a technology, digital platform, e-commerce, online marketplace, travel, or consumer-focused business is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of commercial contracts, regulatory compliance, and risk management.
  • Experience advising on data protection, consumer law, digital regulation, and related legal frameworks.
  • Commercially minded with the ability to balance legal risk against business objectives and provide pragmatic, solution-oriented advice.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage and influence senior leadership.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, international environment with competing priorities.
  • Proactive, adaptable, and able to work independently while managing a varied workload.
  • Fluent English and German are essential.
