In-House Legal Adviser – Insurance

The organisation distributes innovative pet insurance solutions both directly and through partnerships such as white‑label, co‑branding and affiliate models. About the role
As In-House Legal Adviser, you act as the primary legal contact for the European Wholesale organisation. This team focuses on partnerships for distributing pet insurance through white‑label, co‑branding and affiliate models.
During the first 6-12 months, your role will combine Wholesale-related work with support for the Dutch operating entity. As Wholesale activities further scale, your focus will shift fully to this area.
Key responsibilities include:
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts, including:
- distribution and introducer agreements
- IT, outsourcing and supplier contracts
- Developing bespoke legal documentation for new projects and initiatives
- Updating documentation in response to changes in laws and regulations
- Advising the business on financial services and insurance regulations (NL & EU)
- Working closely with Compliance on policies, guidelines and regulatory consultations
- Actively contributing to internal regulatory watch activities
- Handling day-to-day legal questions from the business
- Supporting disputes and claims
- Managing and coordinating external legal counsel where required
- Reporting into governance bodies such as the Risk & Audit Committee
Key requirements:
- Dutch-qualified lawyer with minimum 5 years PQE
- Strong experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts
- Fluency in Dutch and English (a third European language is a plus)
- Comfortable providing clear, pragmatic advice to senior management
- Structured, resilient and results-oriented working style
- Experience within a fast-growing or changing organisation
- Background in financial services and/or insurance
- In-house experience and/or experience at a reputable law firm
- Knowledge of data protection, IT and outsourcing contracts
- International experience and/or dual EU qualification is advantageous
- Comfortable working in a dog-friendly office environment
