Head of Legal DACH

About the role:

The Head of Legal DACH serves as the most senior legal representative for Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. The position leads all regional legal operations, ensures alignment with global legal strategy, and provides high‑quality, pragmatic legal advice to senior leadership. The role carries significant autonomy and responsibility for managing legal risk, governance and compliance across the region.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the primary legal adviser for the DACH region and oversee all local legal, regulatory, and compliance matters.
• Translate global legal strategy into effective local implementation.
• Assess legal risks and determine appropriate mitigation, escalating where necessary.
• Advise and challenge senior leadership on strategic and risk‑related decisions.
• Manage external counsel, ensuring quality and cost efficiency.
• Support budgeting, resource planning, and operational tracking for the legal function.
• Provide timely legal support on commercial, regulatory, and strategic initiatives.
• Maintain relationships with regulators, authorities, and key external stakeholders; lead responses to regulatory inquiries and enforcement actions.

About you:

• Strong background in commercial contracts, compliance, and regulatory frameworks within complex multinational environments; corporate law experience is advantageous.
• Proven ability to advise senior executives and manage complex stakeholder relationships.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in legal teams, including performance management and talent development.
• Significant senior legal experience, ideally as the leading legal representative for a country or business unit.
• Law degree (LLB or equivalent) and admission to practise in Germany; additional qualifications are a plus.
