Contract: 9‑month Fixed‑Term Contract (parental leave cover)

Start: As soon as possible

Overview

Our client, a Top 20 City law firm, is seeking an experienced Construction Professional Indemnity lawyer to join its market‑leading Insurance and Professional Disputes practice on a fixed‑term contract.

This is a senior‑level appointment suitable for candidates operating at Senior Associate, Legal Director, Counsel or ex‑Partner level, offering the opportunity to run high‑value and complex matters within a major international practice.

The role provides substantial autonomy, direct client exposure and the opportunity to contribute to strategic case development while supporting and mentoring junior team members within a collaborative and well‑resourced department.

The Team

The Construction Professional Indemnity team advises and defends a broad range of construction professionals and their insurers across all industry sectors. The group manages high‑value, multi‑party and technically complex disputes, including claims involving design and build contractors, engineers, architects, project managers, surveyors and other construction consultants.

Work will include advising on professional negligence claims, policy coverage issues, design defects, financial loss, errors and omissions, and wider construction‑related disputes. The team operates as part of an integrated international practice, providing coordinated advice across multiple jurisdictions.

Key Responsibilities

* Managing a full caseload of contentious construction and construction‑related professional indemnity matters.

* Advising insurers and construction professionals on liability, coverage, risk and dispute strategy.

* Running high‑value claims from inception to resolution.

* Drafting pleadings, correspondence, reports and complex legal analysis.

* Managing client relationships and providing commercially focused advice.

* Supporting junior lawyers through supervision, oversight and knowledge sharing.

* Collaborating with colleagues across disputes, insurance and construction teams.

Essential Skills and Experience

* Qualified solicitor with minimum 5+ PQE with solid experience in Construction Professional Indemnity.

* Experience gained at a leading national or international law firm.

* Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.

* Strong technical capability, attention to detail and excellent communication skills.

* Remote or regional working may be considered, subject to client needs.

This is an excellent opportunity for a senior contentious construction professional indemnity specialist to join a high‑profile practice on a fixed‑term basis and work on complex, high‑value professional indemnity matters.
