Construction Associate NQ-3 PQE
A highly regarded national law firm in Birmingham is seeking an Associate (NQ-3 PQE) to join its Non‑Contentious Construction team in Birmingham. This is an exciting chance to work on high‑value, high‑profile construction and engineering projects across a wide range of sectors, supporting developers, contractors, funders, purchasers, tenants, public sector bodies and major corporates.
About the Team
The Construction & Engineering group is one of the largest and most respected teams of its kind in the UK. The team provides deep legal and technical expertise across the full spectrum of construction and engineering law, offering proactive, commercially focused advice to support the negotiation and management of complex projects.
Its strength is underpinned by a genuine understanding of the industry-its practices, procedures and processes-both on and off site. Team members include individuals with previous hands‑on industry experience, such as former quantity surveyors with direct involvement in major projects.
The team operates in a uniquely broad position in the market, acting for developers, contractors and institutional purchasers/investors, enabling involvement in many of the UK’s most significant and innovative developments. These span sectors including real estate development, logistics and e‑fulfilment, housing, infrastructure, energy and nuclear, regeneration, healthcare, pharma and life sciences, government, hotels, retail & leisure, building safety and emerging asset classes.
Recent Projects Include:
- Forward funding and development of a 2.94m sq ft global parts logistics centre-the UK’s largest-ever single‑occupier logistics build‑to‑suit transaction at the time.
- Development of a 500,000 sq ft office campus for a major international bank, the largest-value UK building contract agreed post‑COVID.
- Highways England’s £1.7bn A303 Stonehenge scheme.
- Decommissioning of an off‑shore lighthouse.
- Advising a Premier League football club on a new training facility and supporting two County Cricket Clubs with major stadium redevelopments.
- Global pharma manufacturing facilities across the UK, Europe and North Africa.
- Work on the Brent Cross Cricklewood regeneration scheme, including a new rail freight facility, railway station and waste transfer station.
About You
You will be:
- A qualified solicitor or due to qualify as solicitor, NQ-3 PQE.
- Experienced in non‑contentious construction matters or related areas.
- A collaborative team player willing to engage in new areas of work.
- Confident in managing client relationships with appropriate supervision.
- Calm, organised and composed under pressure.
You will have:
- A proven ability to provide pragmatic, commercial advice.
- Strong time‑management and organisational skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Solid drafting, negotiation and problem‑solving abilities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
