A highly respected UK and international law firm is seeking a Senior Associate (6+ PQE) to join its Projects, Development & Construction team. The practice advises on major development, regeneration, accommodation, energy and renewables, healthcare, education, commercial property and broader infrastructure projects. The team is recognised for its technical strength, commercial insight and close collaboration with other specialist departments.

The client base includes multinational companies, public sector organisations, major developers, contractors, investors, funders, specialist consultants, housebuilders and high‑net‑worth individuals.

The Role

The role involves a broad range of non‑contentious construction work, including:

  • Drafting and negotiating construction and development agreements.
  • Advising on standard‑form contracts (including JCT, NEC and FIDIC), consultant appointments, collateral warranties and bespoke documentation.
  • Supporting clients with procurement strategies and contractual structures for large‑scale and complex schemes.
  • Handling development arrangements, investor‑led projects, accommodation‑sector work and substantial due diligence exercises.
  • Providing strategic advice on live projects, including issues relating to delay, payment, fire‑safety, insolvency risk and termination rights.
  • Helping shape commercial negotiations and supporting clients in avoiding disputes.
  • Contributing to know‑how, team development and business development initiatives.

You will enjoy a high level of responsibility, regular partner access and clear opportunities for progression.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will offer:

  • At least 6 years‘ experience in non‑contentious construction law.
  • Strong experience with all major standard‑form contracts and bespoke drafting.
  • Sector experience in development, investment, housing or accommodation (highly advantageous).
  • Experience supervising junior lawyers and running matters independently.
  • Excellent organisation, workload management and communication skills.
  • A collaborative approach, commercial awareness and a proactive, positive attitude.
