Patent Attorney / Patent Agent
A fast growing legal tech company is seeking a Patent Attorney / Agent to support its expansion in France. This is an exciting opportunity to join an international AI driven business that is transforming how patent professionals draft applications. The team has grown quickly across the US and Europe, and this role offers high impact, autonomy, and the chance to shape a next generation product used by IP practitioners.
As a key member of the product organization, you will serve as the voice of patent practice. You will work closely with Product, Engineering, Design, and Customer teams to ensure the drafting workflows, templates, and AI generated outputs meet professional standards. This is a hands on role ideal for someone who enjoys blending technical expertise with product development in a collaborative, fast paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Pre-sales (30%)
- Participate in demos and discovery calls with chemistry / life science prospects
- Map prospect workflows: prosecution, drafting, office action response, portfolio management
- Bring credibility in conversations with patent partners and corporate IP teams
- De-risk technical sign-off and accelerate deal closure
Post-sales / Success (70%)
- Lead onboarding and training sessions for new clients. role-specific, not generic
- Run 1:1 sessions with users to resolve workflow questions and drive adoption
- Handle solution-level support tickets (Intercom): complex, workflow-related queries; run calls as needed
- Conduct monthly open hours / check-ins with key accounts
- Contribute to workflow customization (office action templates, client-specific configurations)
- Create and maintain training content: video guides, written tutorials, help center articles
Candidate Profile
- At least 3 years of experience as a Patent Attorney or Patent Agent (EPO and/or USPTO)
- Background in chemistry, biotech, or life sciences
- Practical experience with patent drafting, prosecution, and office‑action workflows
- Comfortable explaining complex concepts clearly to experienced practitioners
- Curious about technology and motivated by improving how work gets done
- Fluent English
- Based in or willing to relocate to Paris
Nice to have
- Prior exposure to SaaS, legal tech, consulting, or client‑facing roles
- Experience with AI‑assisted drafting or workflow tools
- French language skills
- Experience across multiple jurisdictions (EP / US)
