A leading international law firm is seeking an experienced Senior Conflicts Advisory Lawyer to join its Office of the General Counsel. This is a senior advisory role offering the opportunity to work on complex conflicts and confidentiality matters across a global legal practice, partnering closely with senior stakeholders and leadership teams.
The Role
You will play a key role in assessing whether new client and matter instructions can be accepted, providing legal and regulatory analysis on conflicts and confidentiality issues while balancing commercial, reputational and regulatory considerations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Advising on complex conflicts and confidentiality matters.
- Working closely with partners and fee earners to understand client relationships and associated risks.
- Facilitating practical and commercially focused resolutions to conflicts issues.
- Identifying broader regulatory, risk and reputational considerations during client onboarding.
- Contributing to the development and enhancement of conflicts and compliance policies and procedures.
- Supervising and mentoring members of the conflicts function.
- Acting as an escalation point for complex conflicts searches and enquiries.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Significant experience advising on legal conflicts within a law firm environment.
- Strong knowledge of the UK regulatory framework governing conflicts and confidentiality.
- Excellent analytical skills combined with strong commercial judgement.
- The confidence and credibility to engage with senior lawyers and business stakeholders.
- A practical, solution-focused approach to problem solving.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
- Experience handling highly confidential information with discretion.
Exposure to international conflicts matters or knowledge of conflicts rules in jurisdictions outside the UK would be advantageous.
