My client, a rapidly scaling European cold storage and logistics business, is recruiting its first dedicated Insurance, Risk & Compliance Manager. This is a rare opportunity to build and lead a critical function from the ground up within an operationally complex, asset‑heavy environment.
The role sits at the centre of the business, working closely with legal, finance, operations, and senior leadership across a growing pan‑European network.
Key responsibilities
- End‑to‑end ownership of the commercial insurance programme (property, cargo, liability, CAR, employer’s liability, W&I)
- Broker and insurer management, renewals, coverage negotiation, and claims handling
- Leading insurance diligence and integration for M&A transactions
- Designing and embedding an enterprise risk management framework tailored to cold chain operations
- Delivering operational risk assessments (temperature excursion, equipment failure, contamination, transport risk)
- Developing loss prevention, safety, and business continuity programmes
- Building and maintaining a multi‑country regulatory compliance framework covering H&S, environmental, transport, and food safety
- Creating policies, training, reporting dashboards, and governance from scratch
- Reporting on risk, claims, compliance, and total cost of risk to senior leadership
Candidate profile
- 7+ years‘ experience in insurance, risk, or compliance within logistics, transport, warehousing, or supply chain
- Strong track record managing complex commercial insurance programmes
- Experience building or scaling risk and compliance frameworks
- Confident communicator able to influence across operational and executive teams
- Professional insurance or risk qualification (CII, ACII, CPCU, ARM, CRM, or equivalent)
- Willing to travel across Europe (circa 50%)
Highly desirable: cold chain or temperature‑controlled logistics exposure, CAR insurance, W&I insurance, food safety standards, or multi‑jurisdictional European experience.
