Restructuring and Insolvency Associate or Senior Associate
Location: Birmingham (Hybrid working)
Our client has a new and exciting opportunity for a Restructuring and Insolvency Associate or Senior Associate to join its growing national team.
The Team
Our client’s Restructuring and Insolvency team has long‑standing experience working with an enviable range of insolvency practitioners, lenders and corporates. The team is regularly instructed by the Big 4, as well as mid‑tier and boutique firms. Combining broad technical expertise with a strong understanding of the commercial landscape, the team delivers pragmatic and effective solutions across all aspects of clients‘ insolvency and recovery needs. The team is recognised in both Chambers and Legal 500.
The practice advises on the full scope of transactional and advisory insolvency work, acting for insolvency practitioners and lenders, alongside a wide‑ranging contentious offering.
The Role
Working closely with a highly experienced Partner and a team of senior lawyers nationally, you will assist on a broad range of recovery and insolvency matters. You will act for insolvency practitioners, lenders and directors, providing fast, pragmatic and commercially focused advice.
You will work closely with businesses, directors and individuals facing financial difficulty, managing cases efficiently and cost‑effectively within agreed service levels.
What Our Client Is Looking For
Core experience:
- Experience advising on both contentious and non‑contentious insolvency matters
- Strong drafting skills, including:
- Insolvency Act applications and Part 7 claims
- General court applications
- Client advice letters
- Statements and briefs to counsel
- Confidence in finding practical and innovative solutions to complex issues
- An understanding of business development, with a desire to support and contribute to BD initiatives
Non‑contentious experience:
- Exposure to, and preferably advising on, business sales from distressed situations
- Advising lenders and insolvency practitioners across a full range of insolvency scenarios
- Drafting and presenting reviews of security instruments and structures
Contentious experience:
- Advising on antecedent transactions and directors‘ conduct
- Drafting and issuing various court applications and working with counsel
- Drafting applications including:
- Extensions of administration periods
- Approval of remuneration
- Block transfer orders
- Orders for sale and possession
- General bankruptcy petition and winding‑up petition work
Working Arrangement

The firm operates hubs across the UK, including Birmingham, and this role is recruited on a hybrid basis from the Birmingham hub.
