This is a rare opportunity for an experienced disputes lawyer to step into a newly created in-house role at the heart of an organisation that protects and champions some of the world’s leading news publishers.
Reporting directly to the General Counsel and working closely with the executive team, you’ll take ownership of a fascinating and high-profile disputes portfolio spanning copyright, IP, licensing and commercial litigation matters. You’ll be advising on issues that sit at the intersection of media, technology, content and intellectual property, helping to protect the value of quality journalism in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
This role would suit lawyers currently in private practice or in-house who enjoy managing complex contentious matters but are looking for something different from the traditional law firm model.
What you’ll be doing:
🔹 Leading litigation and dispute resolution matters from initial assessment through to resolution
🔹 Advising on copyright, IP, licensing and contractual disputes
🔹 Managing external counsel and developing litigation strategy
🔹 Working directly with senior stakeholders and the executive team
🔹 Supporting commercial settlement negotiations
🔹 Helping shape the legal approach to protecting valuable publishing rights
About you:
✔ 6-10 years‘ PQE
✔ Strong litigation background, with experience in commercial, copyright or IP disputes
✔ Able to run cases independently and provide pragmatic, commercially focused advice
✔ Confident dealing with senior stakeholders and external counsel
✔ Media sector experience helpful, but not essential
