Director, Legal & Governance, Asia
Our client is an established international organisation seeking a senior legal professional to provide strategic legal, governance, compliance and risk leadership across Asia. This is a broad regional role partnering with senior business leaders on commercial matters, regulatory risk, disputes, governance, data protection and strategic transactions.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic legal advice across corporate, commercial, regulatory, employment, data protection and governance matters throughout the region.
- Lead significant disputes, investigations, regulatory matters and material incidents, ensuring appropriate risk management, escalation and resolution.
- Oversee and strengthen regional governance, compliance and risk frameworks, including policies, controls, reporting, training and assurance processes.
- Advise on complex commercial arrangements and develop effective contract management frameworks, while managing external counsel and legal spend.
- Partner with senior stakeholders on M&A and strategic transactions, including due diligence, risk assessment, negotiations and transaction execution, while supporting corporate secretarial matters as required.
Requirements
- Qualified lawyer with significant post-qualification experience, ideally gained across both private practice and an in-house environment.
- Broad expertise across corporate/commercial, regulatory, governance, compliance and data protection, with strong drafting and negotiation capabilities.
- Proven experience managing material disputes, investigations and legal risk within a complex, regulated or multi-jurisdictional organisation.
- Experience supporting M&A transactions and providing senior oversight of governance, compliance, risk or other specialist control functions.
- Strong commercial judgement and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to influence senior leadership and translate complex legal issues into practical business solutions.
