Andrew Ong

Andrew started his career at KONE in 2012. He set up the Asia Pacific legal and compliance function, which has recently expanded to include the Middle East and Africa. Being part of the APMA Leadership Team and heading up the legal and compliance function means getting involved in the daily operations of the company, including various aspects of construction law practice (from contract, tort, and trust to other non-legal disciplines like engineering, architecture, and estate management).

Contract tenders, litigation, mergers and acquisitions, employee and labour matters, debt collection, and even API licensing for KONE’s elevator/escalator ecosystem are just some of the daily ingredients making up the life of the KONE Friendly Lawyer.

Andrew also has some non-legal roles such as heading up KONE’s Cybersecurity Champion network and spearheading KONE’s Sustainability drive (which includes four streams – Environment, Diversity & Inclusion, Ethics & Compliance + Customers and Solutions) in this region.   He was previously working at Nokia as its Vice President of Mobile Financial Services, Legal and IP.

Andrew has an LLB from the Law Faculty, at the National University of Singapore. He received various training in leadership and innovation from Spain (Instituto de Empresa) and Switzerland (IMD).
