RESPONSIBILITIES: As the Senior Counsel – Real Estate you will work within a corporate culture where Performance, Integrity, Collaboration, Innovation, and Celebration are the mantras of success. In this role, you will:

  • Prepare and take the lead on negotiating various lease documents, including leases, amendments, terminations and renewals with oversight from inhouse counsel.
  • Review and analyze landlord comments to lease documents with oversight from inhouse counsel to formulate responses to landlord comments.
  • Research and answer lease related questions from various internal departments.
  • Prepare written internal memos based on research of leases and other legal documents.
  • Prepare other legal documents as required, such as estoppels certificates, SNDAs, Memoranda of Lease, etc., with oversight from inhouse counsel as necessary.
  • Evaluate and resolve lease disputes with landlords.
  • Advise senior leadership on practical and pragmatic ways in which to mitigate risk.
  • Develop standard work and processes to operate more efficiently, including, playbooks, toolkits, templates, escalation guidelines, to name a few.
  • Provide limited secondary support, as needed, such as negotiating commercial contracts, M&A and transactional activity, and privacy issues.
  • Any and all other tasks that may be needed to get the job done.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Combined 5 years experience at a major law firm and corporate legal department preferred.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to engage multiple levels of the organization.
  • Extensive experience negotiating commercial leases.
  • A commitment to and experience in process improvement protocols and systems.
  • Ability to work independently and to work with others who work independently.
  • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects at once, follow through, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Exceptional business acumen, analytical ability, and people skills.
  • Juris Doctorate from accredited law school.
  • Wireless and/or Retail experience preferred but not required.
  • Some experience buying and selling commercial real property preferred but not required.
  • Some commercial contracts experience preferred but not required.
  • Some M&A and transaction experience preferred but not required.
  • Some privacy experience preferred but not required.
  • Must own your work product and handle all Victra matters like you own the company.
