General Counsel
Taylor Root have partnered with a leading, PE backed, global organisation operating within the healthcare sector to recruit for a General Counsel.
This dynamic and forward-thinking company is looking to hire a General Counsel who will play a pivotal role in leading the legal and risk functions across Australia, with oversight of operations in both Asia and Europe.
This role reports up into the CEO, and interacts with employees at all levels across the business. You will also have management of one direct report.
Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice on all aspects of the organisation’s activities and support across all corporate functions of the business.
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a broad range of commercial contracts across all business functions, including customer agreements, service agreements, sales and purchase agreements, finance and procurement agreements.
- Effectively manage complaints and provide guidance on triage policies.
- Partner with the business on day-to-day issues to ensure risks are appropriately identified and considered in all aspects of the business from supply, commercial, marketing, innovation, finance and HR.
- Advise on consumer-facing enquiries, competition law, consumer law and privacy law matters.
- Provide legal training to the commercial team.
- Review marketing collateral and advertising materials to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Guide, train and develop a mid-level lawyer.
Your background
- Admitted as a Solicitor in Australia or New Zealand
- Minimum 8 years PAE with significant corporate commercial experience from time spent in both private practice and inhouse.
- Prior healthcare and/or medical sector experience will be advantageous but is not essential.
- Strong problem solving and project management skills, with an ability to demonstrate resilience and manage competing demands.
- A solid understanding of confidentiality and privacy requirements.
- You will be risk-aware, and adept at analysing and practically assessing risk, and providing actionable recommendations.
- Commercially minded, and able to work and lead in an agile and flexible environment.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to be able to interact effectively at all levels within the organisation.
