Company Solicitor

Location: North East England

Contract Type: Full-time, 10-month fixed-term

Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday


Summary

An established organisation in the passenger transport sector is seeking a skilled and commercially minded legal professional to join as Company Solicitor. This pivotal role provides expert corporate and commercial legal advice, alongside company secretarial support, to senior leadership and governance bodies.


Responsibilities

  • Provide corporate and commercial legal advice to senior stakeholders and specialist functions
  • Support strategic legal projects including entity reorganisations and group restructurings
  • Deliver company secretarial and governance support ensuring compliance with legal obligations
  • Advise on shareholder matters and internal governance frameworks
  • Implement legislative changes and align corporate documentation accordingly
  • Advise on treasury and tax matters including facility agreements and intra-group funding
  • Manage contractual risk and escalate issues appropriately
  • Represent the legal function in senior discussions and stakeholder relationships
  • Lead strategy for intellectual property protection
  • Oversee legal and governance policies
  • Support statutory filings and constitutional documentation

Requirements

  • Qualified solicitor (LLB or EU equivalent) with strong corporate law and commercial contracts experience
  • Min 4 years PQE (In-House experience desired but not required)
  • Sound judgement and commercial mindset
  • Experience advising senior stakeholders on complex legal matters
  • Knowledge of UK GDPR, Competition Law, and Anti-Bribery legislation
  • Understanding of corporate governance and decision-making processes
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and manage competing priorities
  • Strong communication and analytical skills
  • Experience managing external legal advisers and internal teams
