We are partnering with a leading international firm seeking a Senior Risk / Risk Layer Lawyer to join its Office of the General Counsel. Reporting directly to the COLP/General Counsel and working closely with the wider team, this role will be instrumental in supporting internal investigations and advising Partners and other senior stakeholders on a wide range of regulatory and legal matters.

This is a broad and varied position, encompassing risk management, governance, and operational strategy across the department. You will take a proactive, forward‑thinking approach to an evolving regulatory landscape.

Key Responsibilities:

· Work closely with the COLP/General Counsel (Legal Practice) on risk management and governance matters across the wider Risk Department, demonstrating discretion and confidentiality at all times. Take the lead on issues where appropriate.

· Play an active role in shaping operational strategy within the Risk Department, collaborating with key stakeholders on a variety of projects and initiatives.

· Maintain a proactive approach to the evolving regulatory landscape, evaluating the impact of changes on existing Firm processes and implementing updates or improvements as required.

· Oversee processes and provide informed advice on stakeholder relationships from a legal and regulatory standpoint.

· Serve as a role model for junior members of the wider R&C team, offering mentorship, delivering training, and providing additional support on ad‑hoc projects when needed.

Applicant Expectations:

· Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales, ideally with 5+ years’ PQE.

· Prior compliance experience within a law firm is essential, with a strong focus on regulatory risk.

· Knowledge and experience in client and matter onboarding is essential

· Experience of leading others and delivering training is desirable.

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills to be able to present themselves in a commercial and confident manner to a range of stakeholders and colleagues
