Overview
A specialist commercial law firm with a strong reputation in the construction and infrastructure sectors is seeking a talented Non‑Contentious Construction Senior Associate (6+ PQE) to join its highly regarded London team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced and technically strong lawyer who enjoys working with major contractors, consultants, insurers, and developers on complex, high‑value projects.
Role Responsibilities
- Advise clients on all aspects of non‑contentious construction law, including procurement strategies, project structures, and contract negotiation.
- Draft, review, and amend industry‑standard and bespoke construction documentation, including JCT, NEC, FIDIC, professional appointments, collateral warranties, bonds, and guarantees.
- Work closely with clients across the full project lifecycle, offering commercially robust and pragmatic advice.
- Support senior stakeholders and partners on major UK and international infrastructure and development projects.
- Manage client relationships, providing exceptional service and identifying opportunities for further support.
- Assist with business development activities, including contributing to thought leadership, attending industry events, and supporting client pitches.
- Mentor junior lawyers and trainees within the team, providing technical guidance and supporting their professional development.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and risk management frameworks.
Candidate Requirements
- Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales with 6+ years’ post‑qualification experience in non‑contentious construction law.
- Strong expertise in drafting and negotiating construction contracts and ancillary documentation.
- A track record of advising on complex construction and infrastructure projects, ideally across multiple sectors.
- Excellent commercial acumen and the ability to deliver practical, client‑focused advice.
- Confident working autonomously while collaborating effectively with colleagues and project teams.
- Strong communication, relationship‑building, and client‑handling skills.
- Interest in supporting business development and growing client relationships.
- Experience within a recognised construction practice (boutique or large firm) is advantageous.
