The Opportunity

The firm is looking for a Commercial Litigation Partner who can bring:

  • A portable following or strong, proven commercial contacts with clear business development potential
  • Experience handling complex, high‑value commercial disputes
  • The ability to lead, grow and shape the Birmingham commercial litigation offering
  • A collaborative mindset, working closely with colleagues across corporate, finance, regulatory, restructuring and commercial teams
  • The ambition to contribute to the wider strategic growth of the office and national disputes practice

This role suits an established Partner or a senior lawyer ready for partnership with a strong network and the confidence to build a practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and expand the commercial litigation practice in Birmingham
  • Act for clients on a wide range of disputes, including contractual claims, shareholder disputes, breach of warranty issues, professional negligence, fraud, injunctions, and complex commercial claims
  • Develop and manage client relationships, building a portfolio across sectors such as technology, energy, real estate, financial services, retail, life sciences and manufacturing
  • Work closely with colleagues across the UK and Europe on cross‑border litigation and regulatory matters
  • Guide and support junior lawyers, contributing to team growth and capability
  • Drive business development, sector engagement and profile‑raising initiatives within the region
  • Contribute to the strategic direction of the firm’s national disputes offering

About You

You will be:

  • An experienced commercial litigator with partnership experience
  • Able to bring a following or strong, well‑developed relationships with referrers and clients
  • Skilled at managing high‑value disputes and providing strategic, commercial advice
  • Entrepreneurial, collaborative and motivated by the opportunity to build a practice
  • Strong in communication, networking and client relationship management
  • A supportive leader who enjoys mentoring and working as part of a national team
