This pivotal Sydney-based role will see the appointed General Counsel lead the firm’s legal and compliance function, advising on corporate and commercial matters while navigating Australia’s medical, health, insurance and finance regulatory landscape.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic legal counsel to senior leadership and business stakeholders across all operational areas.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory obligations, advising on risk mitigation for both existing operations and new products/services.
  • Lead contract negotiations, drafting, and finalisation of vendor agreements and other commercial arrangements.
  • Oversee the compliance team, offering regulatory guidance across corporate functions and broader business operations.
  • Engage and manage external legal counsel as required.

Key Experience & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 10+ years’ experience as a corporate lawyer within the insurance sector.
  • Deep expertise in Australian insurance regulations, with additional financial services exposure highly regarded.
  • Strong strategic acumen combined with a hands-on approach to daily legal matters.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities effectively.
