Conflicts Manager
An internationally recognised offshore law firm is seeking an experienced Conflicts Manager to join its global Risk & Compliance function.
As a trusted adviser to partners and senior stakeholders, the successful candidate will play a key role in managing complex business acceptance decisions, providing strategic guidance on conflicts matters, and ensuring the firm’s risk framework continues to evolve alongside its growing international platform.
This role offers the chance to:
- Lead the conflicts function for a sophisticated international legal practice.
- Partner directly with lawyers and senior management on complex business acceptance matters.
- Manage high-profile, multi-jurisdictional conflicts across key financial centres.
- Drive process improvements and enhance risk management frameworks.
- Mentor and develop an established conflicts team.
- Contribute to strategic initiatives relating to client onboarding, compliance, and legal risk management.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the firm’s conflicts clearance and business intake processes.
- Analyse conflict search results and assess legal, commercial, and reputational risks.
- Advise partners and stakeholders on conflicts, information barriers, engagement acceptance, and risk considerations.
- Review and approve complex conflict matters involving multiple parties, jurisdictions, and practice groups.
- Support client onboarding and matter opening processes in accordance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
- Lead and develop a team of conflicts professionals, fostering a high-performing and collaborative culture.
- Drive operational excellence through process enhancements, automation initiatives, and technology improvements.
- Assist with policy development, training programmes, and broader risk management projects.
Qualifications:
- Significant experience within Conflicts, New Business Intake, Risk, Compliance, or Legal Operations gained within an international law firm.
- Strong understanding of legal conflicts principles and professional conduct obligations.
- Proven experience handling complex conflict issues involving cross-border matters.
- Ability to exercise sound judgement and confidently engage with senior legal stakeholders.
- Commercially minded, solutions-oriented, and capable of balancing risk with business objectives.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
