A leading City law firm is seeking a Private Client Associate (3-5 PQE) to join its highly regarded Private Client team. The practice supports high‑net‑worth and ultra‑high‑net‑worth individuals, families, trustees and family offices, advising on sophisticated domestic and international wealth matters. The team is known for its long‑established reputation, technical strength and exceptional client service.
The Role
You will work on a broad portfolio of private client matters with both UK and international elements. Typical responsibilities include:
- Advising clients on wealth structuring, including trusts, family governance arrangements and asset‑holding structures
- Managing succession planning matters, including drafting wills (often cross‑border) and letters of wishes
- Providing tax‑efficient estate planning advice for internationally mobile individuals
- Supporting clients relocating to or from the UK, including planning around residence and domicile
- Project‑managing multi‑jurisdictional matters alongside international advisers, trustees, accountants and corporate service providers
- Acting as day‑to‑day client contact on complex matters, ensuring clear communication and exemplary service
- Preparing trust documentation, estate planning instruments and related private wealth documents
- Running matters with increasing autonomy while receiving support from senior lawyers
- Contributing to business development, networking and thought‑leadership activity within the practice

Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will have:
- 3-5 years’ PQE in private client, private wealth or related practice areas
- Experience advising high‑net‑worth individuals and families, including on cross‑border issues
- Strong technical understanding of trusts, estate planning, tax considerations and wealth structuring
- Excellent drafting and analytical skills
- Confidence managing clients directly and guiding them through complex personal and financial issues
- A collaborative and professional approach, with the ability to work seamlessly across teams
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise a varied caseload
- STEP qualification (or progress towards it) is advantageous but not essential
