João is a qualified lawyer and currently the Chief Privacy and Data Ethics Officer at BeOne Medicines, a biopharmaceutical company with more than 11,000 employees. He leads a team of experts in privacy, information governance, digital data laws, and AI across the US, China, and Europe.
He currently serves as a Board Member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) and is a member of both the IAPP Research Advisory Board and European Advisory Board.
João also contributes to UK policy as a member of the Government’s International Data Transfers Expert Council. His thought leadership includes co-authoring several key publications, notably the primary training material for the IAPP CIPP/M certifications and The Role of Privacy in ESG Explained. In recognition of his impact, he was named Privacy Executive of the Year at the PICCASO Privacy Awards in 2022.

Monica is a senior legal and compliance executive specialising in privacy, cybersecurity, and ethical AI governance.
As Chief Compliance Officer (VP) at SkyShowtime and Co-Founder of Knowledgebridge.ai (an AI literacy and governance provider), she leads enterprise-wide programs and industry dialogue on responsible innovation.
With prior leadership roles at Intel, NBC, BBC, and Dell, Monica has shaped policy, advised on emerging technologies, and built scalable compliance frameworks. A certified AI Ethicist and Fellow of Information Privacy, she continues to champion equity in tech through board service,and DEI advocacy. She was a contributor to the EU AI Office’s Code of Practice for GPAI.
