Individually everyone is in high performance, positively stretched and challenged, learning new skills (and open to learning), feel valued and are engaged in what they do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. The team genuinely care about each other \u2013 checking in with each other (not just leader to team but peer to peer, team to leader etc, which makes it a team culture and won\u2019t ever be confused with checking up on).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3. Individually we have specific skills and collectively the right mix of skills \u2013 we know how to leverage the strengths of each person and proactively do this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-behaviours-do-we-need-from-leaders-to-embrace-real-psychological-safety\">What behaviours do we need from leaders to embrace \u2018real\u2019 psychological safety?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>1. Encourage everyone to participate in team meetings: everyone has team members who prefer to \u2018talk to think\u2019 and everyone has team members who \u2018think to talk\u2019.&nbsp; Find a safe balance for everyone.&nbsp; Perhaps rotating \u2018chairperson\u2019 roles, \u2018minute-taking\u2019 roles and \u2018agenda setting\u2019 roles could be one way of doing this.&nbsp; Gently encouraging those who talk more to allow space for those who talk less.&nbsp; Everyone has a perspective, even the shyest member of a team.&nbsp; They will just need the right environment to let that be voiced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. When you\u2019re in meetings, consider how much you \u2013 as leader \u2013 talk vs listen.&nbsp; You have 2 ears and one mouth, try to use them in that proportion.&nbsp; The more you listen, the more others have space to talk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3. Respond to mistakes in a way which avoids \u2018finger pointing\u2019 and \u2018blame game\u2019 tactics. If you hear yourself saying the words \u2018who did\/said that?\u2019 or \u2018who did this?\u2019 consider the impact and purpose of this.&nbsp; Find ways of encouraging people to respond to their mistakes, own them and move on.&nbsp; There is of course a difference between a genuine mistake and an ongoing performance issue \u2013 and the two things need to be handled differently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-accountability-and-success-checklist-tasc-brene-browne-dare-to-lead\">The accountability and success checklist, TASC\u00a0(Brene Browne \u201cDare to Lead\u201d)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>T \u2014 Who owns the task?<br>A \u2014 Do they have the authority to be held accountable?<br>S \u2014 Do we agree that they are set up for success (time, resources, clarity)?<br>C \u2014 Do we have a checklist of what needs to happen to accomplish the task?&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:25%\">\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n\t<div class=\"hd-block hd-block-posts is-template-grid alignwide\"
