With many staff still favouring external&nbsp;anonymous channels&nbsp;&#8211;&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fca.org.uk\/data\/prescribed-persons-annual-report-2024-25\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">a pattern consistent with FCA evidence of rising whistleblowing reports<\/a>&nbsp;\u2013 how can organisations&nbsp;earn the confidence that makes internal&nbsp;routes&nbsp;the first choice?&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading is-style-eyebrow\" id=\"h-build-a-culture-dashboard-nbsp\"><strong>Build a culture dashboard<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To move beyond opinion and&nbsp;tick&nbsp;box&nbsp;surveys, create a one-page, outcomes-led dashboard that shows where trust is strengthening or fraying.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Speak-up&nbsp;health:<\/strong>&nbsp;Track internal vs external reporting ratio, anonymity rate,&nbsp;time-to-first&nbsp;contact&nbsp;and time-to-closure, plus % of reporters receiving final feedback letters. Benchmark volumes\/channels to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fca.org.uk\/data\/whistleblowing-quarterly-data-2025-q2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">FCA&nbsp;data<\/a>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>People&nbsp;risk&nbsp;signals:<\/strong>&nbsp;Layer attrition hotspots, exit&nbsp;interview themes and sick&nbsp;leave spikes to spot trust fractures. Use small, independent focus groups (6\u201312 colleagues, mixed levels) to \u201csniff test\u201d any area showing green in surveys&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Conduct governance:<\/strong>&nbsp;Count\/grade&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/handbook.fca.org.uk\/handbook\/COCON\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">NFM COCON<\/a>&nbsp;breach notifications,&nbsp;repeat&nbsp;offender&nbsp;flags, case&nbsp;ageing&nbsp;and ensure substantiated personal misconduct feeds regulatory references from go-live&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Thresholds &amp; triggers:<\/strong>&nbsp;Set auto-triggers (e.g., \u22653 NFM allegations in a team over two quarters) for&nbsp;deep&nbsp;dives&nbsp;and escalation to SMF roles; log decisions and remediation timelines&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Reporting cadence:<\/strong>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fca.org.uk\/publications\/consultation-papers\/cp25-18-tackling-non-financial-misconduct-financial-services\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Publish a onepage executive view monthly; provide a Boardlevel quarterly trend report<\/a>&nbsp;(volumes, hotspots, outcomes, retaliation indicators) through the&nbsp;whistleblowing&nbsp;champion&nbsp;<br>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading is-style-eyebrow\" id=\"h-strengthen-whistleblowing-governance-nbsp\"><strong>Strengthen whistleblowing governance<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Firms should make it easier to raise concerns and harder to ignore them.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fca.org.uk\/data\/whistleblowing-quarterly-data-2025-q2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">FCA quarterly data<\/a>&nbsp;shows hundreds of new reports per quarter, with online submissions the dominant channel; annual data reports 1,131 new whistleblowing disclosures (2024\/25) and 908 instances of direct action. The signal is clear: systems must capture themes, escalate&nbsp;patterns&nbsp;and close the loop with reporters.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading is-style-eyebrow\" id=\"h-connect-policy-to-practice-nbsp\"><strong>Connect policy to practice<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Under SMCR,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ashurst.com\/en\/insights\/fca-guidance-on-non-financial-misconduct-a-new-headache-for-firms\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">accountability bites when managers fail to intervene.<\/a>&nbsp;Recent legal analysis highlights that bullying or harassment can breach integrity (IC1) and due skill,&nbsp;care&nbsp;and diligence (IC2), and that managers carry responsibilities too. Roundtable voices challenged leaders to \u201cintervene early, not when it\u2019s too late\u201d and to document decisions consistently.&nbsp;As Suneeta says&nbsp;\u201cYou\u2019ve&nbsp;got to start to challenge senior management\u2026 It cannot be subjective.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading is-style-eyebrow\" id=\"h-looking-ahead-nbsp\"><strong>Looking ahead<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Trust is earned through evidence, not intent.
