Commercial Counsel – 12 month FTC
Taylor Root is working with a terrific business in the retail sector who are looking to hire a junior/mid-level commercial counsel for a 12-month FTC.
Reporting into the General Counsel, this role will involve working across all businesses within the group.
Responsibilities:
- Drafting and negotiating a range of commercial contracts.
- Drafting and negotiating legal documents including (but not limited to): commercial services agreements; confidentiality agreements; letters before action.
- Assisting with value-added work including arranging and delivering training to the business.
- Advising on compliance matters (including the Bribery Act, Data Protection, developing standard forms/precedents and guidance notes).
- Conducting research into new legislation/regulation and gaining an understanding of the potential impact on the business.
- Answering ad hoc legal enquiries; many of which relate to contractual issues or concerns.
- Reviewing internal policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
- Instructing and managing external lawyers on various matters.
Experience required:
- Qualified solicitor in the UK, or commonwealth equivalent, with at least 2 years’ experience.
- Experience in commercial contracts.
- Sector experience in retail, leisure, or hospitality would be preferable.
