This is a leading global financial institution looking for a Legal Counsel to support their commodities business lines based in Singapore. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with a dynamic team of legal professionals within the Global Markets team and collaborate closely with various stakeholders within the firm’s commodities division across the region.


  • Provide legal advice and support to the commodities business lines, including physical and financial commodities trading, derivatives, and risk management activities.
  • Review, draft, and negotiate a wide range of legal documents and agreements related to commodities transactions, including master agreements, ISDA agreements, supply contracts, and regulatory filings.
  • Stay abreast of regulatory developments and industry trends affecting commodities trading and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and international regulatory frameworks.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including compliance, risk management, trading desks, and operations, to address legal issues and mitigate legal risks associated with commodities activities.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on complex legal issues impacting commodities trading, provide strategic advice to senior management, and assist in developing policies and procedures for commodities-related activities.
  • Manage relationships with external legal counsel, oversee legal projects, and represent the firm in legal matters related to commodities business lines.


  • LLB/JD from an accredited law school and is a qualified lawyer
  • Minimum 5 years of experience practicing law, with a focus on commodities law, derivatives, and financial regulations.
  • Prior experience working in a financial institution, investment bank, or law firm with a commodities practice is highly preferred.
  • Deep understanding of commodities trading regulation and global regulatory frameworks.
  • Strong drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills with the ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and effectively.
  • Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and interact confidently with internal and external stakeholders.
