Opportunities have arisen at Associate, Senior Associate or Principal Associate level to join a leading non contentious construction team in Birmingham. The role is open to lawyers across a broad experience range, from newly qualified through to ten years’ post qualification experience. The work focuses on advising property companies, real estate investors, public sector bodies, corporate occupiers and contractors on high value construction, engineering and infrastructure projects.

The team

Team members bring detailed industry knowledge, including experience of on site and off site project delivery.

Clients span development, funding, residential, retail and industrial sectors, along with large corporates, public sector organisations and major contractors.

The non contentious practice acts for developers, contractors and institutional investors. This provides exposure to complex projects across sectors such as real estate development, logistics, housing, infrastructure, energy, regeneration, healthcare, life sciences, government, hospitality, retail, leisure, building safety and alternative asset classes.

Recent work highlights:

  • Acting as legal adviser on a major multi venue international sporting event, covering fit out, temporary works and utilities infrastructure
  • Advising on the forward funding and development of a multi million square foot logistics facility, at the time the largest single occupier build to suit transaction in the UK
  • Advising on the development of a large scale office campus for a global financial institution, reported at completion as the highest value UK building contract signed since the Covid 19 outbreak
  • Advising on a nationally significant infrastructure road project with a contract value exceeding £1.5 billion
  • Advising on the decommissioning of offshore infrastructure assets
  • Advising professional sports organisations on new training facilities and major stadium redevelopments
  • Advising on pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities across the UK, Europe and North Africa
  • Advising on one of the UK’s largest regeneration schemes, including new rail infrastructure, a new station and major utilities assets

The role

The precise scope of the role will depend on experience. Junior lawyers will work closely with senior colleagues on major matters and build responsibility over time. More experienced associates will run matters with decreasing levels of supervision, manage client relationships and supervise junior lawyers.

Across all levels, the role includes drafting and negotiating construction documentation, advising on risk allocation, and supporting clients through the full lifecycle of major projects.

About you

The team is open to qualified solicitors from 0 to 10 years’ PQE. Experience does not need to cover every requirement listed below, but candidates should demonstrate a strong foundation and the ability to develop quickly.

What is on offer

The role offers the chance to develop within a firm recognised as a strong employer in the legal sector, with support structured around experience and career stage.
