We are looking for a tax litigator in the with 2 to 5 year pqe range to join our fast-growing Tax Litigation and Investigations team. The department has four divisions: Direct Tax Litigation, Indirect Tax Litigation, Tax Investigations and Commercial Tax Litigation. This vacancy arises primarily in Direct and Indirect Tax Litigation (with more of a leaning towards indirect tax litigation). There is however flexibility within the department to work in other areas as well.
The candidate should have a good range of experience acting in tax disputes (either from the taxpayer's or HMRC's perspective) and in at least some of the major taxes (Income Tax, CGT, Corporation Tax, VAT and Environmental Taxes), preferably including some experience in both direct and indirect tax disputes, a strong knowledge of Self-Assessment procedure and procedure before the First-tier Tribunal. The candidate should have a good understanding of the structure of HMRC and knowledge of the leading authorities in the area. The candidate should have strong academics and come from a good firm or equivalent where we can be confident they will have had a diet of excellent work and training.
Excellent salary, full benefits package, 37.5 working hours per week which may be worked flexibly between the hours of 9am to 6pm Monday to Friday. Permanent full-time post.
