We are partnering with a leading Australian law firm to recruit an exceptional Special Counsel to join their high-performing Banking & Finance team in Melbourne. This is a rare opportunity to step into a senior leadership role within a dynamic and growing practice, advising on complex, high-value transactions for a prestigious client base.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise lawyers on property finance transactions, including construction facilities and syndicated lending.
  • Advise on receivables, trade, and equipment financing matters.
  • Draft and negotiate deeds of priority and intercreditor arrangements.
  • Manage front-end finance transactions from instruction through to settlement.
  • Collaborate on large-scale, cross-practice matters.
  • Provide strategic legal advice on banking and finance regulations and compliance.
  • Conduct due diligence and risk assessments.
  • Represent clients in negotiations with banks, financiers, and managed funds.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • 7+ years’ post-qualification experience in banking and finance law.
  • Strong technical expertise and experience in a top-tier or highly regarded firm.
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage fast-paced transactional work.
  • Excellent drafting, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Proven leadership and mentoring capabilities.
  • A proactive, collaborative mindset with a strong client service ethic.
