The role is with a global energy company that focuses on exploration and production from a wide range of leading assets, with operations across Asia, Africa, the Americas and Europe.
Reporting in to the excellent Legal Director, the Senior Legal Counsel forms part of the company's well-established Europe & Africa team, with this role having particular emphasis on the Africa region.
In this role you would be heavily involved in implementing the company's business development activity, from corporate acquisitions to asset transfers and farm in agreements. Alongside this you would advise on general commercial and corporate matters, as well as anti-bribery and corruption. A significant part of the role will involve establishing positive working relationships with the wider Commercial teams, as well engaging with the board of directors and managing external counsel.
The Legal Director heads up a team of 6 and is committed to bringing in people who are pro-active, positive and down to earth, and he is open to candidates from both private practice and in-house backgrounds. It is not a pre-requisite to have experience of Africa-based asset work, however some experience of working on non-UK matters is preferred.
