SENIOR LEGAL COUNSEL – CHELTENHAM

RETAIL SECTOR

ROLE OVERVIEW

As Senior Legal Counsel, you will:

  • Advise on the negotiation and commercial implementation of a diverse range of contracts spanning IT, compliance, supply chain, sustainability, marketing, real estate, digital, wholesale, licensing, and franchise across global operations.
  • Support the General Counsel in managing litigation matters.
  • Provide practical and commercially focused advice on legal and regulatory issues central to a multi-channel global brand, including product and marketing compliance.
  • Serve as a senior member of the Commercial Legal team, engaging in areas such as sourcing, compliance, supply chain management, sustainability, marketing, real estate, wholesale, licensing, and franchise.
  • Act as a Legal Business Partner across various functions, integrating legal support into business operations.
  • Build and nurture strong relationships across the company to understand strategic objectives and commercial priorities.
  • Drive continuous improvement within the legal team, leveraging technology and innovative solutions to enhance processes and manage risk effectively.
  • Develop creative and pragmatic commercial solutions for complex issues.
  • Oversee the instruction of external counsel and other service providers as needed.

ABOUT YOU

  • A qualified solicitor in England and Wales with expertise in IP, Commercial, Tech, or Commercial Litigation. Ideally, you bring at least 4 years of post-qualification experience, but exceptional candidates at any level will be considered.
  • Commercially minded, with a keen understanding of business operations, finance, and commercial strategies.
  • Technically proficient with a solid grasp of the laws, regulations, and processes governing retail and consumer-led businesses.
  • Experienced in an in-house setting, either through previous roles or secondment.
  • Detail-oriented and take pride in producing high-quality work, setting high standards for the team.
  • A strong communicator with the confidence to present to senior stakeholders.
  • Highly organized, diligent, and exceptional with attention to detail.
  • Collaborative and team-oriented, fostering a productive working environment.
  • Solution-focused, decisive, and proactive in getting things done.
  • Energetic, resilient, adaptable, and calm under pressure, embracing change with a positive outlook.
