Senior Legal Counsel

About the role:
The Senior Legal Counsel – Trading is a senior member of the legal team, responsible for overseeing legal matters related to commodity trading, shipping, and trade finance.
The role includes managing a small team of lawyers and providing strategic legal advice to the trading team and other senior stakeholders. Key responsibilities include contract negotiation, regulatory compliance, dispute resolution, and supporting legal operations initiatives. The position also involves cross-functional collaboration and reporting to the General Counsel on legal risks and developments.
About you:
- Qualified lawyer in the Netherlands or another relevant European (preferably UK) jurisdiction
- Around 15 years of legal experience, with deep expertise in commodity trading and maritime law
- Hands on approach, with a “can-do” attitude and an ability to problem solve at pace
- Strong background in contract negotiation, regulatory compliance, and dispute resolution
- Proven ability to lead and manage legal teams and strategically manage complex trading-related disputes
- Excellent communication skills and fluency in English; Dutch is a plus
- Experience in the energy sector and familiarity with trade finance is desirable
