The Role
As a Senior Associate, you will be an integral part of the national taxation team, collaborating closely with a leading partner within the tax sector and contributing to a fully integrated service covering a broad spectrum of taxation matters. This includes handling reviews, audits, disputes, regulator engagement, ATO powers, employment-related taxes, and superannuation obligations. The role offers flexibility, allowing you to step into seniority and shape your career trajectory while also pursuing your own area of interest.
- Conduct in-depth reviews, audits, and disputes across various tax matters
- Navigate ATO powers, including raids/access and notices
- Undertake tax calculations for employment taxes and superannuation guarantees
- Coach, mentor, and supervise junior lawyers
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum 6 years’ post-qualified experience in tax matters (preferably in a top-tier firm)
- Strong experience in tax disputes or employment taxes is highly advantageous
- Proficient in undertaking tax calculations for employment taxes and superannuation guarantees
- Proven experience in drafting advices, rulings, objections, and submissions
- Client-focused with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Enthusiastic, ambitious, and collaborative, supporting a busy and growing tax practice
