An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Risk and Compliance Lawyer to join a law firm in London. This person will assist the General Counsel/COLP and the compliance team with the delivery of the firm’s objectives in reducing risk and achieving across the board compliance with regulatory and statutory obligations.

Duties:

  • Conduct file reviews and feedback to lawyers and the risk and compliance team on areas of improvement
  • Review complaints correspondence and draft responses where necessary
  • Notify circumstances to insurers, supervise the rectification of issues and liaise with solicitors
  • Provide advice to internal members of staff in areas such as conflict of interest, ethics and account rules
  • Review contracts for third party suppliers
  • Provide guidance to the company and members of staff on areas of risk and compliance
  • Assist in preparing for external auditing or insurance renewal process
  • Keep up to date with relevant regulatory and compliance developments

Requirements:

  • A qualified Solicitor
  • A thorough understanding of the Code of Conduct 2019 and the SRA’s regulatory regime
  • Understanding of money laundering regulations, bribery, and Solicitors Accounts Rules 2011
  • Previous experience in dealing with compliance issues and complaints handling in private practice
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and building and maintaining working relationships
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
