Risk and Compliance Lawyer
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Risk and Compliance Lawyer to join a law firm in London. This person will assist the General Counsel/COLP and the compliance team with the delivery of the firm’s objectives in reducing risk and achieving across the board compliance with regulatory and statutory obligations.
Duties:
- Conduct file reviews and feedback to lawyers and the risk and compliance team on areas of improvement
- Review complaints correspondence and draft responses where necessary
- Notify circumstances to insurers, supervise the rectification of issues and liaise with solicitors
- Provide advice to internal members of staff in areas such as conflict of interest, ethics and account rules
- Review contracts for third party suppliers
- Provide guidance to the company and members of staff on areas of risk and compliance
- Assist in preparing for external auditing or insurance renewal process
- Keep up to date with relevant regulatory and compliance developments
Requirements:
- A qualified Solicitor
- A thorough understanding of the Code of Conduct 2019 and the SRA’s regulatory regime
- Understanding of money laundering regulations, bribery, and Solicitors Accounts Rules 2011
- Previous experience in dealing with compliance issues and complaints handling in private practice
- Excellent interpersonal skills and building and maintaining working relationships
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
