Legal Counsel - Global Financial Institution - APAC

Your New Company

Our client is a leading algorithmic trading institution with operations across US, UK, Europe and Asia. They offer the trade of a wide range of financial products including EFTs, Equities, Futures, Commodities, Currencies, Bonds and Options. Due to the rapid expansion of business across the APAC region, our client currently has a new headcount for a Legal Counsel to join their business here in Hong Kong.

Your New Role

Reporting directly into the Legal & Compliance team, and working closely with the teams in US and UK, you would be involved in a full range of legal support including drafting / negotiating commercial contracts on a regional and global level. You would be assisting in implementing and monitoring new financial / general regulations affecting the business, and advising the management on new projects and business initiatives. You would also be liaising with external counsels and business units where necessary.

What you will need to succeed

The ideal candidate is a Hong Kong qualified or Registered Foreign Lawyer with 1+ years PQE. He/she MUST be from a US / Magic Circle / Top-tier international law firm with solid private practice experience. A background in FS Reg / Structured Products / Corporate is highly preferred but candidates from other practice areas are also welcomed. Strong command in English is mandatory, an additional Asian languages is desirable. This position best suits junior candidates who are entrepreneurial, flexible and willing to learn.
