My client, a global sports and entertainment media group, is looking for a legal counsel to provide legal support for the Asia Pacific region. Ideally, you have good general corporate commercial experience in the media and entertainment industry and are willing to roll up your sleeves and learn. They are open to relocating the right person for this role.
The role reports to the Head of Legal, Asia Pacific with a dotted reporting line to Vice President, Legal and Business Affairs based in London in relation to media rights acquisition agreements.
You will negotiate, review and draft media rights acquisition agreements, media rights sublicense agreements for exploitation in Asia Pacific region. You will also handle advertising sales, marketing, agency, sponsorship, and other commercial agreements.
You will advise channel/services production and marketing teams on media rights exploitation/programming compliance issues and co-ordination with rights holders. You will assist with negotiation, review and drafting of distribution, marketing and/or data bundling agreements for OTT content service.
You will also stay abreast of regulatory issues in relation to distribution and exploitation of content across all media, listed events regulations, consumer law and advertising regulations throughout the Asia Pacific region. You will advise on litigation and contentious issues such as intellectual property disputes, piracy (issuance of cease and desist letters, online piracy surveillance) in Asia Pacific.
Ideally, you have at least 6 - 8 years of experience in top law firms and in-house, in the media/ digital industry. Experience with digital content and content delivery on OTT platforms is advantageous.
