Lead Audit Manager, APAC

I'm currently hiring a Lead Audit Manager, APAC for an international asset management firm in Hong Kong. This will be the first audit hire in the region and will work closely with head office to establish and run the regional audit function. This will include building business relationships with the regional management team and advising on local rules and regulations. This is an excellent opportunity to join an established company as part of the senior management team.

Key responsibilities:

  • Design and roll-out APAC audit plan to ensure assurance over the business activities and compliance with relevant regulations
  • Monitor audit plan and progress through frequent communication with senior management team and business unit heads
  • Build relationships with heads of business units in order to keep abreast of key risk items and regulatory developments
  • Communicate regional updates to global audit teams to ensure a consistent audit approach across all business entities
  • Represent internal audit at board and committee meetings
  • Design and deliver assurance projects, such as risk assessments, root cause analysis and action plans
  • Monitor implementation of action plans and test their effectiveness

Key requirements:

  • Bachelor degree with 7+ years' experience in audit or control function (operational risk, business risk, internal control, internal audit, external audit)
  • Qualified accountant or equivalent (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIA, CISA)
  • Extensive financial services industry knowledge, with preference for asset management / investment management
  • Experience in control testing, risk assessment, root cause analysis
  • Excellent knowledge of APAC regulatory environment, ideally relevant to asset management
  • Ability to work independently and in collaborating with other governance functions, such as legal, risk and compliance
  • Fluent in English and Chinese preferred
  • Travel (up to 20%) will be required
