The Head of Privacy will be responsible for ensuring that the business operations maintain compliance with all applicable data protection law and an appropriate and robust control environment over wider information assets. including the following tasks:-

  • Informing and assisting the Group with their responsibilities for complying with relevant data protection laws, regulation and guidance, day to day responsibilities including:
  • Direct Marketing Consents - how to capture and use consents lawfully
  • Database management - ensuring database(s) are kept up to date, buying in and sharing data
  • Dealing with complaints from customers relating to use of their data
  • Data Transfers and DPAs -sharing data with our suppliers, including outside the EU
  • Identifying who is data controller and data processor
  • Use of cookies and alignment with our privacy policy
  • Manage and respond to subject access requests for Commercial Legal Dept.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong academic credentials
  • BCS/ISEB Qualification
  • Significant experience of advising in the areas of data protection, privacy law and other areas of information law and wider information security and/or a recognised data protection qualification
  • Strong understanding of relevant UK and EC laws (Data Protection Act 2018, GDPR, Privacy & Electronic Communications Regulations, Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000)
  • Understanding and appreciation of global data protection laws
  • Ability to develop innovative and pragmatic approaches to legal compliance and information security issues in support of strategic business initiatives and objectives
  • Strong commercial awareness and analytical skills
  • Experience of roll out of a business wide privacy and information security policies and compliance programmes
  • Experience to include negotiating agreements containing information and data protection law clauses, drafting privacy notices and advising on marketing issues
  • Experience of training to develop a culture of compliance with data protection
