We have been mandated by our client, a European manufacturing MNC, on a confidential search for a senior data privacy and data compliance professional.

This is an exciting opportunity with high visibility to the global leadership team. Reporting into C-level executives in HQ and domestically, you will assume an essential and highly specialized position within the organization, while leading a regional team.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Oversee data compliance in all APAC legal entities, advising on compliance and data practices to meet requirements
  • Acting as the primary contact for regulatory agencies and public authorities in the region, you will ensure compliance with both national and internal regulations.
  • Development and implementation of data compliance strategies and lead projects to comply with new national data compliance laws
  • Collaborate with compliance teams to guide and raise employee awareness on data compliance and security issues, as well as providing training to internal staff involved in data processing activities and operations

Requirements

  • Law degree from a recognized law school required and additional qualification/certification in data protection/privacy preferred
  • 12+ PQE with minimally 5 years of experience in Singapore and other APAC data protection and privacy policies, including China, Japan, Korea, and Australia.
  • Strong understanding of APAC data compliance regulations and other major national data compliance frameworks, as well as information technology and data management systems.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, including communication and advising people at all levels of the organization. Ability to converse in Mandarin is highly preferred for effective communication/management of team members and stakeholders in China.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, with strong project management skills and the ability to prioritize multiple deadlines.
