Our client is a global payments company who are now looking for a Corporate Counsel to join their legal team in San Francisco. This role will suit a business-savvy attorney with excellent interpersonal skills, someone who can rapidly build personal credibility and ensure effective stakeholder management across the group. You will be part of their international eCommerce legal team, interacting with colleagues across the globe.

In this role you will provide high quality, business focused legal support directly to a growing and developing global business. The core component of your role will be negotiating commercial contracts, and in this role you will liaise with customers, suppliers and senior management in respect to negotiations, transaction structuring and contributing to debates and implementing solutions outside of the legal remit.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • At least three years experience in either M&A or corporate law from a top international or national law firm
  • Ideally, some experience in an in-house role (whether on secondment or after leaving private practice)
  • Experience managing relationships with senior lawyers, customers and internal stakeholders
  • Experience of negotiating and documenting a wide range of commercial agreements
  • A U.S Bar qualification

The team are looking for a problem solver who proactively identifies substantive issues and presents viable alternative solutions. You will serve as a business partner to the business team and in this capacity must be highly efficient and able to deal with a large volume of work, possess strong analytical skills, and be able to learn quickly.

Exceptional written and oral communication skills are essential as is the ability to work with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
