Why now is a good time to get in touch with Your legal recruiter

April 12, 2020

In our current state of lockdown, working from home has its ups and downs. I miss the vibrancy of “suiting up”, sharing a workspace with my colleagues, and in-real-life meetings

On the bright side, I’m finding that lawyers, law firms and corporate hiring managers are more able to answer their phones and have a chat. For those of you who are hesitant to do so, I hope I can convince you of a few reasons why now is a good time to get on the phone to your recruiter.

  1. You are more available than ever – now that you’ve settled into working from home, you have traded your commute for extra hours in the comfort of your home or local park. You have more time than ever outside of the workplace to have confidential conversations.
  1. We are here to help – we are specialist legal recruiters and can advise you on the market. Whether you are interested in active roles, remuneration advice or talking about your experiences to date, we want to hear about it. We don’t expect you to have all the answers, rather we will offer our insights and knowledge for your benefit. For example, recently, I had a conversation with a passive candidate. A week later they called to thank me, because based on my salary benchmarking advice they had secured a $15,000 pay rise.

Having a recruiter means you have someone to help you cover the market, prep you for interview, weigh up your options and negotiate remuneration conversations. We are here to guide you through your career decisions.

  2. Inside knowledge on the Legal industry. While there are times an organisation may publicly post a position, many times they are likely to turn to Taylor Root to fill a position as quickly as possible. Working with a well-connected recruiter usually gives you early access to the job market and sometimes even hidden opportunities that are not publicised. With the ever-changing market, I am consistently speaking to my clients in regards to market conditions and their recruitment needs.
  3. It is best for your future to get in your recruiter’s mind now – depending on your interests and experience, we may or may not have an active position to talk with you about. Even so, we do want to know how you are enjoying your current role, and what you would look for in your next position.

Market conditions change quickly, and you want to be on your recruiter’s call list, so that once that dream role comes across their desk, you will already be fresh in mind. We want to be able to bring positions to your attention swiftly when the busyness of post-lockdown life returns.

There’s never been a more important time to feel connected. Recruiters love to chat, so why not pick up the phone when your recruiter calls or go ahead and ring us! We are keen to hear from you.
