Group Legal Counsel

Cascal NV is a US listed company registered in the Netherlands. Cascal owns, operates and develops water company investments. It is an experienced international investor and operator which seeks dynamic solutions to water and wastewater problems worldwide. Since its formation in 2000 Cascal has successfully developed a portfolio of highly efficient water companies located in the UK, South Africa, Chile, China, Panama, Indonesia and the Philippines.  Cascal also benefits from the global presence of its c60% shareholder, Biwater. 

Cascal now seeks its first in house counsel who will work with and report to the company’s Chief Commercial Officer. You will be responsible for all legal and commercial advice to central management and project companies. The legal work will be varied and challenging and will primarily involve drafting, reviewing and negotiating a broad range of multi national, cross border commercial agreements and arrangements which will include concession agreements, financing documents and purchase contracts and leases. You will also be responsible for instructing and supervising external counsel and will be expected to deputize for the Chief Commercial Officer at Board meetings or Board Committee meetings.

In addition to the mainstream legal work, you will also be expected to deal with the compliance and company secretarial work. As such you will assist the Chief Compliance Officer in assessing and managing risk throughout the group and ensuring the submission of timely filings to the SEC for Cascal NV. You will also be expected to oversee the Secretariat system so as to ensure all group company secretarial details are in order.
