Wales
Wales has a surprising number of options to offer lawyers looking to relocate, in terms of its range of high calibre law firms, standard of work and quality of life. The region has emerged from an economy built on primary industries as a major force in a range of high-tech sectors. Over the last 20 years, more than 450 international businesses have set up in Wales. The region benefits from excellent excellent road and rail connections, and Cardiff’s international airport providing domestic and international flights.
The Millennium Stadium has undoubtedly put Cardiff on the map for a lot of people, although you would be mistaken to think that the city has no more to offer than a state-of-the-art sports stadium. Callaghan Square is a recent commercial development in the city centre, while on the edge of the city, Cardiff Bay is a desirable waterfront location combining prestigious offices and luxury
housing with arts and entertainment facilities. It is also worth noting that Cardiff has more green space than any other UK city.
Neighbouring The Mumbles, an attractive seaside village, and enjoying almost 20 miles of sandy beaches along the nearby Gower Peninsula, Swansea and, between Cardiff and the English border, Newport are also home to some impressive legal players and offer superb quality of life moves, particularly for lovers of the great outdoors.
Generally speaking, the region’s housing market continues to offer good value for money, although buyers are increasingly being forced to look outside Cardiff city centre. In some cases, particularly down by the waterfront where designer apartments have replaced decrepit warehouses, prices are rapidly catching up those seen in the UK’s other large cities.
